The environment we create is a mirror of our inner self. Our thoughts, emotions, and life experiences shape not only our physiology but also the spaces we inhabit. Over time, this environment becomes the support for us and for our health and well-being, we unknowingly become dependent on it.
Whenever distress, disorder, or disease manifests, our attention shifts to our body and its symptoms. The emotions you feel during this time, are the emotions that have remained suppressed for years. As it happens, we often find ourselves struggling not only with our body, but also with our own environment. Recovery, therefore, is not about managing physical symptoms—it is an opportunity to let go of the environment which support the symptoms of our issues - to create a healing environment.
This experience extends beyond the individual who is suffering. The caregiver, too, is suddenly confronted with uncertainty. Watching a loved one struggle can evoke fear, anxiety, helplessness, urgency, or the need to constantly intervene. Just as the individual is invited to turn inward, the caregiver is also encouraged to observe and witness the emotions arising within themselves.
