Discipline, Wonderment, and the Secret of Healing
Opening Hook:
We often think discipline is rigid and heavy. But in truth, discipline is what gives us hope—it
opens the space for wonderment.
Personal/Community Context:
In the Adiyog Sutra research sessions, seekers shared deep fears, expectations, and inertia.
Some feared judgment, some resisted letting go of pain, some held tightly to bliss. What emerged was a revelation: the problem was not the emotions themselves, but our rigidity with them.
Core Teaching:
Every moment invites a choice—rigidity or flow.
- Sanskar (impression) holds the potential for fluidity.
- Pravriti (tendency) often pulls us into entitlement or judgment.
When discipline meets surrender, wonderment is born. Obstacles dissolve not by force, but by trust in process.
Ancient Wisdom Connection:
Yoga teaches that sadhana is not about controlling results but about showing up daily. Just as prana flows naturally when not obstructed, life opens effortlessly when we release expectation.
Practical Application:
- Sit quietly and watch your breath.
- Notice where you are rigid—fear, entitlement, or judgment.
- Whisper inwardly: “I am curious to see what happens.”
- Stay for 3 breaths. Let wonderment take root.
Closing Reflection:
Bliss and pain are not final states—they flow. Discipline is the bridge that carries us from fear to wonderment, from rigidity to renewal.
