Science of Mental Health
Mental health based on Yog Sutra
by Maharishi Patanjali
We synthesized science mental health based on Yog Sutra by Maharishi Patanjali. The model has been perfected over 14 years and has been successfully applied in thousands of cases proving self- diagnosis, self-prevention and self-cure. It defines the mind, and its various components

It is extensively detailed out as an experience in
Saanjh web series in 9 episodes of Part 3.
The science can be explained with 4 sutra:
Sutra 1
Sutra 2
Sutra 3
Sutra 4
Four components of Mind
MANN
In its pure form, it is expression of spirit.
It represents desire (Ichha)
CHITT
Pravarti:
Tendency - layers of subconscious formed over several lifetimes. It is container of belief.
BUDDHI
Innate wisdom
acquired over several lifetimes.
AHANKAR
Mind, ego, I,
Identity Need
to survive.
Intricate functioning
- In any moment either Mann is active or Ahankar is active.
- When Mann is active, it begins to access Buddhi.
- When Ahankar is active, it begins to access Chitt and cuts off access to Buddhi.
Use Case
RELATIONSHIP
Desire: I wish to experience love through a relationship.
Belief: No one loves me. Everyone leaves me. I am unworthy of love.
AHANKAR
Scenario 1
High
I will make sure that
I am loved.
Pravarti - Control
Scenario 2
Average
I will do
anything to hold him.
Pravarti - Need to be needed
Scenario 3
Low
Self-pity
Pravarti - Manipulate, poor me.
Choose your scenario and combination. You may have the same desire but different belief and different Pravarti. You may have different levels of Ahankar in different situations with the same person.
This combination creates countless profiles, thus creating varied scenarios and events.
This is how each one of us is unique.
This is how each one of us is unique.
DESIRE & AHANKAR AT PLAY
If desire is strong,
you attract a partner and you start a relationship
If desire is strong but unsustainable
you swing between desire and belief.
This causes doubts, confusion and anxiety.
If Ahankar is strong,
you want to ensure that your partner proves that he loves you.
If Ahankar is average,
you become suffocated to create situations that you are needed.
If Ahankar is low,
you drown in self-pity to gain attention and manipulate the partner.
In a normal scenario, we do all of it in a relationship in a day. We have moments of desire where it is beautiful to express and receive. But it goes against our belief (no one loves me and everyone will leave me). We feel unstable with love and begin to control our partner in fear that our belief shall not become reality. As you stay more with your pravarti using your Ahankar, it begins to switch off Mann and access to Buddhi also gets switched off.
Now love is gone. Stale and suffocating relationship because your partner also has pravarti and Ahankar. Then break up happens and you say to yourself - I knew no one loves me and I knew everyone would leave me and play victim - he/she misused me.
This is still a high-level view, but you can go deep at the micro-level and figure out your unique inner process of suffering. Take a pen and paper and start now.
So, where is Buddhi? Why is wisdom not playing a role here?
This is how love heals.
Wisdom gives you trust in relationships and faith in your journey.
This begins to make your pravarti passive.
SOLUTION - DISSOLVE THE BELIEF
The whole purpose of meditation or sadhana is to purify desire by making Ahankar passive (need to survive) and access the pravarti and go to belief and as we breathe belief, it dissolves and shows the hidden wisdom. Youth and people in relationship need to do meditation as described by us more than anybody else.
To experience the solution, watch Saanjh web series where this is covered extensively.
